We are excited to welcome David Slobotski, a Certified Implementer with EOS Worldwide, as our inaugural guest blogger! David is passionate about helping business owners succeed by honing in on three critical areas: Vision, Traction, and Health. With his empathetic approach and deep knowledge of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), David empowers business leaders to align their teams and strategies for sustainable growth.

David has been a great referral partner for little guy.  We have worked with several of his clients on their marketing and lead-generation efforts.

lgx: David, thanks for joining us! Can you tell us a little about your journey as a business coach and what led you to work with EOS?

David: It was something of a right place, right time thing, except I don’t believe in coincidences. When the student is ready, the teacher appears, right? I was at an organization that was implementing EOS right as I started, and I had the quintessential lightbulb moment. The clarity that the system and I provided our clients is what I fell in love with. I have the amazing privilege to give that clarity to other entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial leaders.

lgx: We should probably take a step back here.  What exactly is “EOS”?

David: EOS, or the entrepreneurial operating system, is a simple set of timeless principles, harmonizing all the moving parts of your business. It’s designed to help you run a better business and live a better life. I’ve found that the 150 things it feels like are flying at an entrepreneur everyday are often just symptoms of a true root issue. EOS is a simple set of proven practical tools to help you get more of what you want from your business.

lgx: For businesses just starting to implement EOS, what’s the first step they should take to get the most out of the system?

David:  Follow EOS in its purest simplest form. What I typically see is businesses trying to implement on their own there is a tendency to overcomplicate the system, which makes it less effective. Very few people can truly describe Einstein‘s theory of relativity, but many people know E=MC^2. That is the power of simplicity. I would also recommend talking to people who implemented before to share experiences.

lgx: One of the key focuses of your work is Sales and Marketing. How can businesses align their sales and marketing strategies for better results?

David: Consistency is key to sales and marketing efforts. You have a finite amount of marketing dollars and sales time. Your ability to communicate consistently in both areas is what will resonate most with your customers. One specific tool that I enjoy teaching is called the Proven Process. It’s a one-page visual illustration that you use to show your customers exactly how you’re gonna make them satisfied throughout their journey working with you. That tool does as much externally as it does internally, allowing you to align the “front of the house” and the “back of the house”.

lgx: You also work closely with businesses on operations and finance. What common challenges do you see in these areas, and how does EOS help address them?

David: One of the number one challenges I see in Operations or Finance is not having a set of simple processes for anyone in one of those seats to follow. What that means is having an agreed-upon core process that can be followed by all. This allows the entrepreneur or leader to feel more comfortable delegating tasks and activities because there’s a process to follow. This leads to scalability, profitability, and ultimately freedom for the entrepreneur.

lgx: From your experience, what role does leadership play in the success of a business, and how can EOS support leadership development?

David: Leadership, particularly in casting a clear vision for the organization, is one of the key areas where EOS helps. The Entrepreneurial Operating System simplifies strategic planning, making those plans more impactful and ultimately getting them shared by everyone in the organization. As an entrepreneur, you can only achieve your vision if you have a team to support you, and the best way to get them on board is by casting a clear and compelling vision. Get the whole team to row the same direction and row in sync.

lgx: Many businesses need help with balancing day-to-day operations and long-term growth. How can entrepreneurs use EOS to create more clarity and focus on their goals?

David: EOS is a framework that allows entrepreneurs and their teams to pause, prioritize, and plan for the future.  This process of pausing, prioritizing, and planning creates a consistent and repeatable way to ensure that we’re focused, disciplined, and accountable to the things that need to be done today, this week, this month, and so on, allowing us to truly prioritize what’s most important and execute with focus, discipline, and accountability.

lgx: What’s one piece of advice you always give business owners when they’re feeling overwhelmed with managing their team or processes?

David: Take a clarity break. A clarity break, by definition, is time spent away from the day-to-day grind of the business to elevate and work on the company, on your team, or yourself to truly get clear on what’s most essential. There are many examples of high-level leaders in business, government, and society who stopped to get clear and then focused on what was most important. This allows you to let the fray of the day-to-day fall by the wayside and truly focus on what’s the largest, most impactful thing that they can do for their team, their organization, and themselves. If you’ve got a glass of dirty water and are spinning a straw in it, you can’t see through the glass. But if you stop spinning the straw, the dirt settles, and you can see clearly – that’s what pausing allows you to do.

lgx: How can businesses stay agile in today’s fast-paced market while still maintaining the discipline that EOS emphasizes?

David: By using one of the most praised tools in the EOS toolbox, the Level 10 Meeting. We’ve all been in meetings where nothing ever gets accomplished, nothing ever gets decided, and nothing truly gets done. Not in this meeting. This meeting is a leadership-focused, working-on-the-business, executing-the-plan type of meeting, and this allows us to stay agile every single week while we ensure that we’re executing for the greater good of the business and staying at the forefront of opportunities, obstacles, or challenges that may be in our way

lgx: What are some of the most impactful changes you’ve seen in companies after they fully embraced EOS principles? Can you share any success stories?

David: It’s hard to choose just one. My favorite is watching each team, and entrepreneur grow as an individual (inside and outside of the business) and having a business that reaches towards what they truly want in their organization. Some entrepreneurs don’t want to grow top-line revenue. They just want to keep a successful business and make it more profitable. Some entrepreneurs want to take over the world to make huge impacts in their communities. It’s just amazing to see all of those things come to life. I’m blessed to be the guide on their journey.

A company I started working with about 18 months ago has shown some serious growth in the last 6 to 9 months, and the number one reason for that growth is making a big people move; they made a change on the leadership team.  Since then, their revenue and profit have nearly doubled, and they weren’t small to begin with.  They had a 138% increase in revenue and a 276% increase in profit in about 18 months, with most of that growth coming halfway through. Sometimes, those big people moves need to happen – for the business to scale, for the employee to be happy,  and to unlock the next level for that company.
